25. NEW CHABEL SUBSTATION

Chabel substation in Kathmandu district supplies power to On Hospital, Sankhu, Maharajgunj Chabel, Mahankal, and Sundarijal via a Single Busbar System. This substation was erected in 1982 with three 66kV transformer bays of 66/11kV capacity, 6.3 MVA capacity, and two 66kV line bays to evacuate electricity from the Devighat Power Plant. In 1995, one of the two circuits was redirected to Bhaktapur, and a new 66kV line was built from Chabel to Bhaktapur. In FY 2001, old 12kV OCB switchgears were replaced by 12kV VCB switchgears. In 2003, three 66/11kV, 6.3MVA Power Transformers were replaced by two 66/11kV, 22.5MVA Power Transformers due to increasing demand. In 2013, another 22.5MVA Transformer Bay was installed.There are now three 66/11 KV 22.5MVA PowerTransformers available.
